CDS Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne Surrenders To Colombo Fort Magistrate Over Abductions And Killings Of 11 Youth

Chief of Defence Staff Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne surrendered before the Colombo surrendered himself to the Colombo Chief Magistrate, a short while ago. 

He was due to appear before the Criminal Investigations Department yesterday to gave a statement, but gave it a miss at the eleventh hour. 

The Chief of Defence Staff has been accused of aiding Chandana Hettiarachchi alias Navy Sampath, the main suspect in the abductions and killings of 11 youth. 

Sources said Wijegunaratne had also held a consultation with officials from the Attorney General’s Department on the investigation. 

Newspaper reports also said Wijegunaratne’s aides, in Sunday, attempted to assault Lt. Commander Laksiri Galagamage, a witness in the case .
