Revenue of 620 million in four months through drunk driving arrests
Through the massive drive launched over the past four months to nab drunk drivers and produce them in court, the Police Department has raked in a colossal Rs. 625 million, according to the Director Traffic Police SSP Indika Hapugoda.
The special drive to nab drunk drivers commenced on July 05th and is still in operation.
During this special operation, 25,000 drunk drivers have been arrested and produced in court. Each of these offenders have been charged at least Rs. 25,000, it is reported.
SSP Hapugoda further noted that with the unprecedented success of this operation, it will be continued further.
